When Don Bohm, collector supreme and all around good guy, asked if I’d be interested in translating an illustration of his original character, Doc Saturn, into 3D, I didn’t have to think twice. Don has commissioned several artists to draw his super hero and it was the art done by Tom Grummett he wanted to bring to three dimensional life.
The piece presented several unique challenges, so I documented the creation of it every step of the way.
Producing a slide show video seemed the best way to tell its story.
So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, I give you, Doc Saturn.

Fantastic work, and I greatly enjoyed seeing the process.
The retro feeling is coming through loud and clear. I love the colors, the saturn symbol, the sculpting on the face, and the yellow mohawk is a great final touch.
