IMC 2014: Reminder

Saturday, November 16th, 2013

Just a short announcement… As of yesterday the IMC is now accepting payment plans for the 2014 session. Class size is extremely limited, and consistently sells out each year, usually by Christmas time. So if you’ve been on the fence about attending, now is the time to make it happen!

The class, which is admittedly expensive, is still one of the best deals you can get in Art Education, in my opinion. The student teacher ratio is about 7 to 1, and the instructor roster is a who’s who of the industry’s best. The limited class size, the great instructors, and the intensive schedule make for what many students have told me, is a ‘life changing experience’.

We do our best here on Muddy Colors to share what knowledge we can, but the simple truth is, there is only so much you can learn from reading. Nothing compares to the one-on-one, tactile experience that the IMC provides. Watching your teachers paint right in front of you, with your own brushes, and your palette, specifically showing you how to do it, is an incomparable experience.

Every year I hear how someone signed up too late, and that there are 20 people ahead of them on the waiting list. Don’t be that person. Sign up now with a small deposit, and make what may well be the best career decision you ever make.

This year’s faculty consists of: James Gurney, Mike Mignola, Boris Vallejo, Iain McCaig, Donato Giancola, Greg Manchess, Julie Bell, Rebecca Guay, Dan dos Santos, Scott Fischer, Irene Gallo, Lauren Panepinto, Matthew Kalamidas and… BRIAN & WENDY FROUD!

NASA is well into their preparations to launch Artemis II, the first manned space flight to go to the moon in over 50 years. The rocket has been rolled out to pad 39B and, if all tests go well, will launch as early as February 6th. And I’ll be there to witness this...

What an unusual summer school: quiet campus, glorious old buildings, and a congenial group of people having fun and working hard. The week-long project-focus and the deep-bench faculty make it unlike any other workshop. The attendees come from all levels of experience (some are pros, some are stretching into new areas, and some are just embarking), but the environment is really supportive. Looking forward to seeing the Frouds this year. Jeanette and I will be there for just two days. Thanks, Rebecca for creating this life-changing experience.
