Painting The Glowing Druid

Here are a few progress photos of a recent painting, The Glowing Druid. I’ve included some info along with the photos of the stages. The first photo here shows some textural build-up as well as a little bit of painting on top of that. Finding My Work: There and (I don’t wanna go) Back Again.

October 15, 2021 - As I was thinking about my topic this month, basically how I approach my personal work, we were also getting ready for a local gallery show. Vicki brought out a piece that I’ve had for a while, at least ten years, and as we were looking at it we discovered something.  When I made the work I hadn’t yet fully immersed myself in my own aesthetic, but this piece was more fully “mine” than anything else that I had done at the time. It was as if I had skipped ahead a few chapters in “The Book of ME” and came out with a spoiler.     The piece itself “The Song of the Unformed” more easily fits into the work that I do now…
