Here are two wonderful sculpting demos by Phillippe Faraut. Philippe constructs his sculptures in a very anatomical manner, progressing from the inside out, using large geometric shapes. I find this additive process makes it particularly apropos to a visual artist, as it gives a deeper understanding of the underlying forms of the figure.
Review: VR Sketch Transfer
I hate transferring my sketch. I hate it. Every method I have found is tedious. Projectors and transfer paper lose important small details, and to get out of the way of the projection, I lean and bend in unnatural positions for long periods of time. There's more, but...

What a great way to learn anatomy! Thanks for sharing.
I use clay models for reference purposes. It might sound like a lot of work, but even a rough shape, gives you tons of use full infomation of light and shadow.
