Cut Flowers – Chapter 3 Sneak Peek

Monday, April 6th, 2026

I’ve been working and doing a lot of events this year, but I still find time to make a little progress on the next chapter of my comic, Cut Flowers. Here’s a little sneak peek, the pencils for one of the upcoming pages!

For those who want the technical details, these are done in 10b pencil on Midori paper (I got tired of Moleskine’s uneven quality control and found Midori does a similar smooth cream colored paper that comes in pads with removable pages), plug graphite powder applied with a blending stump for the gray tones.

I do rough drawings on Duralar matte with HB pencil first, then use a lightbox to trace the final pencils, my replacement for traditional inks. I like Duralar because you can erase really easily — it’s like tracing paper you can’t rip with the added bonus of digital-feeling level of nearly endless do-overs.

It will still be some time before the chapter is done; definitely by September though, so if you’re planning on going to IX in October, you will be able to get a copy in your hands there!
