Arrivederci signor Toppi. A truly talented man, a great influence for many.
In the same year we lost Moebius and Toppi… so sad 🙁
I've been looking around for a while to see if he had a book of his collected work but can't seem to find anything. Anybody know of one?
There are this one http://www.amazon.it/Sergio-Toppi-segno-della-storia/dp/8896197090/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1346589381&sr=1-2), this one http://www.amazon.it/Al-di-l%C3%A0-del-West/dp/8873901794/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1346589381&sr=1-6 and this (not available on Amazon but possibly elsewhere) http://www.amazon.it/Sergio-Toppi-nero-bianco-eccezioni/dp/888782732X/ref=sr_1_39?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1346589590&sr=1-39
All 3 are in Italian.
I'm not familiar with his work. But the way he used form and boxed his work outside of the conventional square canvas is inspiring.
Didn't know his work, but looks like it have been a great influence for Simon Bisley, don't you think?
Great artist.
Stuart Ng has a number of Sergio Toppi books available:
