I dunno. I just can't see it. Never really been much of a Rembrandt fan. I think he's an example of a great painter but a poor draftsman. Never saw these before though. These are good.
the top one is called jeremia. its also one of my favourites from rembrandt. I've seen it irl among many others of his but that one I really like. the photo does not do it judtice at all. it looks truly like actual skin, the details are amazing. and the story behind it makes it all the greater
First to use really thick paint to communicate form. His paintings need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated…. and the guy can't help that he was surrounded by ugly people.

I usually claim to not be a big fan of Rembrandt… But these are pretty epic, i must admit. 🙂
