It’s that time of year again: the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize Catherine K. Gyllerstrom “People’s Choice Award” voting is now open through September 6. Across five categories – Traditional, Digital, Photography, Sculpture and Emerging Artist – one of 150 international finalist artworks will be selected by popular choice to receive accolades and prizes.

A few years back, Colin and I entered “Spinner of Dreams,” one of our collaborative pieces. She went on to win the Sculpture Category that year, so we experienced first hand what winning an award of this magnitude opens up.

About the experience we wrote: “The artist’s journey is an intricate weaving of ups and downs, loves and sorrows, successes and failures. This moment is a confirmation and a validation of everything – every little step on the path, every obstacle overcome, every dream brought yowling and chirping into life. That we get to share this creative adventure with each other, and further, that we get to share the thrill of being selected as winners of this award for a sculpture born of both of us is a dream literally spun into life.”
