January 15, 2026 - "Well, young lady...Explain yourself.” I'm standing next to a sculpture in one of my first important solo shows. A collector had flown in to see this piece in person at the opening and decided to purchase it. A few days later, her husband came to town to see the work and wanted to meet me. Dressed in my best "artist attire," I show up an hour early and wait, trying to keep the butterflies in my stomach from turning into full-blown collywobbles. He arrives - the light seems to be completely blocked out by this towering figure coming in the door. He walks straight up to me and those are the first words out of his mouth.
