I am receiving giant files from artists all day, and often things come through WeTransfer. And completely by accident recently — while receiving a high res book cover illustration from an artist — that I stumbled on this lovely WePresent Creative Manifestos project on their site. This isn’t an ad for WeTransfer, but they’re not doing a very good job promoting the project (at least not anywhere I’ve seen) and they’ve gotten some great folks to contribute, so I wanted to get it in front of a few more creative folks. I wish more companies would do projects like this.
The idea is pretty simple: ask artists, authors, musicians, cooks, activists, and all kinds of creative folks to design a poster with their 10 personal rules to live by while creating. Seems simple right? As an exercise, I’ve started noting down my own rules when I realize them, and I’m going to design a list to hang up by my workspace to remind me. Maybe you should too. Meanwhile go thru these and see if there’s any you’d like to adopt.
Here’s some of my faves:
Christoph Niemann — 10 Rules for Drawing
Roxanne Gay & Debbie Millman — 10 Rules for Loving & Being Loved
The Guerrilla Girls — 10 Rules for Art Museums
Natasha Khan from Bat for Lashes — 10 Rules for
Jessica Walsh — 10 Rules for Branding & Design
