I’ve taken to the habit of streaming a lot of documentaries from Netflix while I paint. Aside from alleviating some boredom when I’m whittling away at something really late at night, it’s also a great way to learn about new things while I work.

A few months ago I stumbled across a documentary called “The Pixar Story“. Not only does this documentary cover the origins of the Pixar company, but it covers the history of animation in general, especially as it pertains to technological advances. I’ve watched it several times now, and the film still amazes me… honestly, amazing. It is a truly great watch if you’re looking for something to inspire you.

Below are two clips of the documentary, totaling just 20 minutes of what is a 90 minute film. Out of respect for our fellow artists, I implore you to find the rest of the film through more legitimate means, such as Netflix or Amazon. The documentary was originally included as a bonus film on the special edition release of Wall-E, which can you buy for just $13.

I’m sure we’ll discuss more inspiring films here in the future, but if you’re looking for another one immediately, I also highly recommend “Between the Folds“. Hands down, one of the best documentaries I’ve seen in years.
