Free Video… Today Only!

Each month, hundreds of Patreon supporters donate a small amount of money to Muddy Colors, which helps maintain this website, and makes programs like our Rising Stars Scholarship possible. In return for their donations, Muddy Colors provides our supporters with a brand new video each month.

Over the past few years, we have amassed a library of dozens of videos, each one detailing the process of an incredible artist, while they answer questions in a casual interview-type setting. We are really grateful that the support of our readers has made these videos possible, and hope that someday people will look back on them as keepsakes of our artistic generation.

We know not everyone is in a position to donate or purchase one of the videos found in our shop. So as a token of our gratitude, and with the generosity of our supporters in mind, we would like to offer ALL of our readers access to one of our videos today, completely FREE!

Watch as Illustrator and Fine Artist, Howard Lyon discusses how to paint convincing skin tones from a variety of ethnicities. The video begins with a 1 hour lecture, where Howard breaks down Old Master’s techniques for painting flesh in easy to understand terms. Howard then shows you how to implement those same techniques in your own work in a 2 hour painting demo.

He discusses color mixing, color relativity, and how to paint believable skin tones even in unusual lighting conditions. This video is a comprehensive overview of painting realistic flesh tones for artists of all mediums, both traditional and digital.

This video will be available for free for all of our readers TODAY ONLY, so don’t delay… start watching it now!

If you would like to help support future videos like this, and receive a massive discount on all new videos, consider subscribing to our Patreon today.

Thank you so much for this! What a great video! My inner preschooler still boggles at the fact that you can, in fact, make blue by mixing black, white, and orange! 😀

Glad that you found it useful! Thanks for giving it a watch and for commenting. Dan has put together some really great videos with demos done by other MC artists, but also leaders in the industry. Definitely work checking out in the MC store or Patreon. Thanks again, Melissa!

I really wish I got to watch this in its entirety! I came back at 10:30 p.m. to finish up watching but it had already been taken down :'( Some of us have day jobs, you know.

Jen, Sorry to hear you didn’t get to finish it, but the stream was actually supposed to end the day before. We let it run for nearly an extra 24 hours.

If you didn’t hear about it the day it was announced, might I suggest signing up for our email updates?
Or, if you like what you saw, you could always purchase the video in our shop.
