The Muddy Colors Crew would like to extend our congratulations to our compatriot, Donato Giancola, for winning the “Illie” Award for his painting, “Eowyn and the Lord of the Nazgul”. Way to go!
It's a price given at Illuxcon after popular vote amongst the site members. The statuette this year was sculpted by Thomas Scott Kuebler who also won an Illie as well as Jon Schindehette because they are such nice guys. (To be clear, Tom didn't sculpt his own prize, his and Jon's were made by Vincent Villafranca.)
I just received a copy of Spectrum 18 and could see this magnificent painting published there. From all the representations of this very famous scene this is my favorite. The use of the red devilish wing framing the Nazgul is unique and striking. Congratulations Donato, well deserved!
