Fantasy artist and illustrator Mia Araujo is about that life — the creative life that is. She’s based out of Los Angeles and received her education at Otis College of Art and Design. While her fine art paintings have been showcased in galleries everywhere, her illustrations can be seen in the pages of Hi-Fructose Magazine, Suggestivism, Imagine FX, Spectrum, Society of Illustrators LA, and the Creative Quarterly.

In our conversation, Mia talks about the L.A. art scene, how she and her twin sister both drew as kids, pushing for more diversity within the fantasy genre, and her own Artists of Color interview series, which is amazing.

Mia’s also working on a fully-illustrated novel that is a retelling of the classic tale “Alice in Wonderland.” You can find out more about the project on her site, as well as support it via her Patreon page.
