I can’t believe I can finally announce this, after literal YEARS of waiting…

I am honored to announce that I am the official artist for the newest Marvel Masterpieces Trading Card Set! I was selected, as the sole artist, to create more than 135 original works of art for this highly-esteemed trading card set featuring Marvel’s greatest Superheroes.

This job was a massive undertaking. Every image in the Marvel Masterpieces line is required to be a hand-crafted, traditional painting, and I had less than 2 years to complete them all. That may seem like a long time, but it’s actually just a few days per painting, a breakneck pace compared to my usual deadlines and painting speed. I don’t think I’m exaggerating if say that this job may have been the most difficult task of my life, but despite that, I could not be prouder of the work I completed.

This body of work represents my largest collection of art to date, and depicts every beloved Marvel Comics superhero that I grew up with. Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Storm… I got to paint them all, and tried to do so with the painstaking care to detail and story that any Marvel fan would agree they deserve.

All of the card art will get spoiled eventually, but for now, I can only share a taste of the upcoming set.

I’ll be posting process articles about this set here on Muddy Colors as per usual. But 135 paintings is a LOT of paintings to go through. Literally years worth. Far too many to affectively share on a group blog. So I will be sharing a more in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Marvel Masterpieces set on my personal Patreon page. I was really diligent about cataloging my artistic process on this set, and even went so far as to record everything thing I painted, all year long. I honestly can’t wait to share this new body of work with the world. I’m extremely proud of the job I did, and I really hope that Marvel fans are going to enjoy my narrative take on these iconic characters. Thanks for taking the time to look!
